# Sent messages

42min sends a lot of email for you — booking confirmations, reminders,
[workflow](/help/workflows/overview) messages, cancellation notices. The
[**Messages**](/360/messages) page (in the **Admin Center** section of the sidebar) is
the record of all of it: what was sent, to whom, and whether it actually arrived. When
an invitee says "I never got the reminder," this is where you look.

## What it is

Each row is one email, newest first, with the date, the message type, the recipient
(name and email), the subject, and a delivery status. Click any row to open a full
preview of the message.

The history covers every email 42min sends around your meetings and account:

- **Bookings** — *Booking confirmed*, *Booking rescheduled*, *Booking canceled*,
  *Reminder*, *Follow-up*.
- **Workflow** — every message sent by one of your [workflows](/help/workflows/overview).
- **Roundtables** — invites, reminders, updates, and the final decision email for
  [roundtables](/help/roundtables/overview).
- **Forms and invites** — *Routing form* submission notices, *Booking invite* emails,
  *Team invitation* emails.
- **Account notices** — *API notice*, *Calendar disconnected*, *Video app disconnected*,
  *Account closed*.

Sign-in emails (welcome emails, password resets) never appear here — they can contain
temporary passwords and reset links, so they're excluded from the history entirely.

### Delivery statuses

| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| **Delivered** | The recipient's mail server accepted the message. |
| **Checking delivery** | Sent; 42min is still waiting for delivery confirmation. |
| **Not delivered** | The message bounced or was rejected as spam — the reason is shown under the status. |
| **Failed** | The message couldn't be sent at all. |
| **Unsubscribed** | The recipient has unsubscribed, so the message wasn't delivered to them. |
| **Skipped** | 42min deliberately didn't send it — hover over the status to see why (for example, a workflow step whose meeting was canceled first). |
| **Delivery unknown** | The message went out, but no delivery confirmation is available. This is not a failure — it just means 42min can't confirm either way. |

## Who can see it

- **Admins** see every message in the organization.
- **[Managers](/help/team-and-admin/manager-role)** see messages for themselves and the
people in the groups they manage.
- **Regular members** don't have the Messages page — but everyone can see the messages
sent to a specific contact on that contact's page in
[Leads](/help/workspace/contacts#message-history) (members see only the messages for
  their own meetings there).

## Finding a message

Once your history has more than a handful of messages, filter controls appear above the
list (with fewer than 10 messages they stay hidden and everything is simply shown):

- **Type** — narrow to one message type, e.g. only *Reminder* or only *Workflow*.
- **Status** — e.g. only *Failed* or *Not delivered*, to spot problems quickly.
- **Host** — messages for one host's meetings (shown when your org has more than one
  user).
- **Recipient search** — type at least 3 characters; it matches any part of the email
address, so a name, a domain, or a fragment all work.
- **Date range** — defaults to the last 30 days; widen it to look further back.

A "Showing X of Y messages" line tells you how much the current filters are hiding.

## The message preview

Click a row (or its subject) to open the preview. It shows the recipient, sender name,
Reply-To, subject, when it was sent, the delivery status — and the rendered email
itself, exactly as the recipient got it. If a send failed, the error detail is shown
here too.

Two things about the preview are intentional:

- **Links are disabled** and sensitive action links (like cancellation or confirmation
tokens) are hidden, so opening a preview can never trigger an action on the
  recipient's behalf.
- **Message bodies are kept for 90 days.** Older messages keep their history row (the
who/what/when and delivery status stay for a year) but the body itself is deleted, and
the preview says so. A few types — *Team invitation* and *API notice* — never store a
body at all, because those emails contain private sign-in or accept links.

If the message belongs to a meeting, the small link icon on its row jumps straight to
that meeting in [**Meetings**](/360/meetings).

## Message history on a contact

Open a lead in [**Leads**](/360/leads) and, below their meeting history, you'll see
**"Messages sent to …"** — the same history, scoped to that one person. It only appears
once at least one message has been sent to them. Rows open the same preview.

## Checking on a workflow

On the [**Workflows**](/360/workflows) page there's a **Message log** button — it opens
Messages pre-filtered to workflow messages, so you can confirm a reminder or follow-up
really went out (or see why it was skipped).

## Common pitfalls

- **"Delivery unknown" is not an error.** It means no confirmation is available — common
for messages with several recipients. If the recipient says they got it, all is well.
- **The body is gone but the row is still there.** Bodies are kept 90 days, history rows
for a year — that's by design, not data loss.
- **A manager can't find a message an admin can see.** Managers only see messages for
the people in [groups they manage](/help/team-and-admin/groups-and-permissions); ask
  an admin to check org-wide.
- **No filters visible?** Filters appear once the history has 10 or more messages — with
fewer, the full list is already on screen.
- **Confirmation emails always send.** The booking confirmation isn't a workflow — you
will see *Booking confirmed* messages even if you have no workflows set up.
