The free TidyCal alternative that doesn't stop at the booking page

TidyCal is a tidy booking link. It also has no webhooks, no routing forms and no workflow builder — not on the $29 plan, not on the $79 plan, not on Pro. 42min has all three on the free plan.

Plan names and feature gating verified against tidycal.com/pricing and help.tidycal.com, August 2026. The $29 Individual and $79 Agency tiers are lifetime purchases sold through AppSumo; Pro is billed $12/mo or $99/yr. Rows where TidyCal leads — payments chief among them — are covered further down rather than in this table.

Bookings go in. Nothing comes out.

TidyCal can take a booking. What it can't do is tell the rest of your stack that one happened. There are no webhooks on any plan — TidyCal's own help centre says so, and its public roadmap carries four separate open webhook requests, all still marked “Gathering votes”. Its Zapier app has seven triggers, zero actions, and polls on a schedule rather than firing instantly. The public API is version 0.1 with eighteen endpoints and no availability routes. The MCP endpoint is read-only.

    Webhooks, not polling

Six event types, a signing secret you can rotate, a delivery log, and automatic pausing when an endpoint keeps failing. TidyCal has no webhook support at any price — four separate requests for it sit open on its public roadmap.

An API you can build on

Version 1, with OAuth 2.1 + PKCE, scoped tokens, idempotency keys and optimistic locking on writes. TidyCal's API is version 0.1 — eighteen endpoints, no availability routes.

    An assistant that can act

42min's MCP server exposes around two dozen tools that read and write, so an AI assistant can actually book, reschedule and cancel. TidyCal's MCP endpoint is read-only, on paid plans.

Signed webhooks with a delivery log and automatic pausing on repeated failure — on the free plan. TidyCal has no webhook support at any price.

    Three more places TidyCal stops

    01

    Three calendar providers

Google, Microsoft and Apple — and exactly one connection on the free plan. 42min connects eight: those three plus Zoho, Yahoo, Fastmail, Yandex and any CalDAV server, including self-hosted Nextcloud or Radicale. CalDAV support has been an open request on TidyCal's roadmap since June 2025.

    02

No way to ask a question first

Every visitor lands on the same page and books the same thing. 42min routes on the answers — AND/OR rules, forms that chain into a decision tree, and a response log you can export. TidyCal's own comparison pages point elsewhere for routing logic.

    03

One language for the whole account

TidyCal's booking pages localise, but the language is a single account-wide setting and its admin interface is English only. 42min sets the booking language per event type — a French page and a Japanese page in one account — and runs the dashboard itself in any of twelve languages.

Ask first, then route — AND/OR conditions sending each answer to the right host, event type or follow-up form. TidyCal has no routing layer at all.

    Where TidyCal beats us

A comparison page that only flatters its author isn't worth reading. Here's the part we lose.

    TidyCal does this better

    • It takes money. Stripe and PayPal, paid bookings, packages, subscriptions, discount codes and a digital storefront — 42min has no payments at all.
    • Recurring bookings with automatic billing.
    • More booking-page locales than our twelve.
    • A website builder for simple landing pages.
    • A custom domain, on Agency and Pro.

    Stay on TidyCal if…

    • Selling is the point — your booking page is really a checkout.
    • You already own the lifetime deal and only need a solo booking link.
    • You want one payment and no account to think about again.

If you're taking payments through your booking page, TidyCal is the better tool today — and we'd rather say so than win the click.

    What $0 actually looks like

Not a trial, not a teaser tier. These are screens from the free plan.

Booking analytics with CSV export — TidyCal puts both behind the $29 tier.
Four roles and group-scoped permissions. TidyCal's three roles start at $79.
Meeting polls, which TidyCal also offers free — one of the places we're evenly matched.
Round robin that assigns by fewest recent meetings, so load actually evens out.

    Switching takes about ten minutes

Nothing to export — your bookings live in your calendar
    1. STEP 1

      Connect a calendar

Google, Microsoft, Apple, Zoho, Yahoo, Fastmail, Yandex or any CalDAV server.

    2. STEP 2

      Rebuild your booking types

Durations, buffers, questions and availability — the same settings, in a different editor.

    3. STEP 3

      Swap your link

Email signature, site button, social bios. Bookings live in your calendar, so there's nothing to export.

    Questions, answered

Partly. The $29 Individual and $79 Agency lifetime tiers are still sold through AppSumo, but TidyCal added a recurring Pro plan at $12/mo (or $99/yr) in April 2026, and some capabilities now sit on that plan rather than on either lifetime tier.

Keep the booking link. Add the plumbing.
