What is the 42min MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for letting an AI assistant work with other apps. 42min has an MCP server built in, and it gives a connected assistant tools for your scheduling: availability, bookings, recurring series, meeting polls, routing forms and contacts. You describe what you want, the assistant picks the tools, and the result is the same as doing it in the dashboard.
Book anna@example.com for an intro call next Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday at 2:00 PM was open, so I booked the intro call. Anna has the invitation and the meeting is on your calendar.
What you can ask
Twelve requests to try once your assistant is connected.
Look things up
- What does my week look like?
- Am I free Thursday afternoon for an intro call?
- Find Anna Kovacs and tell me when we last met.
- Where do the leads from my Contact sales form end up?
Book and change meetings
- Book anna@example.com for an intro call next Tuesday at 2 PM.
- Move my 3 PM to tomorrow morning.
- Cancel Friday's demo.
- I'm out of office from August 4 to August 8.
Hand over a longer job
- Set up a weekly check-in with Elena on Tuesdays at 10 for 12 weeks.
- Draft a poll for the board meeting with three times next week, and show it to me before it goes out.
- Make three secret links for my Strategy session and write the email that carries them.
- Run a 200-person company asking for a demo through my routing form and tell me where it lands.
What the assistant can do
It reads and it writes, so a request ends with the meeting booked.
Availability
Find open slots for an event type, check one start time, add a date override, or block out days as out of office.
Bookings
List and read bookings, book a meeting for an attendee, reschedule or cancel it, and mark a no-show. Attendees are notified and calendars are updated, as they are from the dashboard.
Recurring meetings
Create a weekly or monthly series for a contact, then pause it, resume it, change its pattern, move it to another host, or end it.
Meeting polls
Draft a poll with candidate times and participants, read the votes as they come in, and publish the draft once you have confirmed it.
Routing forms
Read a form's rules, responses and funnel, dry-run a set of answers to see which rule matches, duplicate a form, or switch it on and off.
Event types, contacts and links
List event types and turn one on or off, look up a contact with their meeting history, and create or delete secret links.
Every tool is listed in What your assistant can do, along with what is deliberately left out.
You decide what it can reach
A connected assistant never has more access than the person who connected it.
It works as you
Your dashboard role decides what the assistant can read and change. A member works with their own schedule, a manager with their group, and an admin with the whole organization.
You approve it and can revoke it
Connecting opens a 42min consent screen that lists what the assistant may do. Disconnect it from the dashboard and its access ends immediately.
Read-only when you want it
An admin can connect an assistant with a personal access token limited to read scopes. That assistant sees the reading tools and none of the ones that change anything.
Admins hold the switch
One setting in the Admin Center allows or blocks AI assistants for the whole organization. Turning it off stops every connection at once, and turning it back on restores them.
MCP server FAQ
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant work with other apps. 42min's MCP server presents your scheduling account to a connected assistant as a set of tools, such as finding open slots, creating a booking, or pausing a recurring series. You ask in plain words, and the assistant chooses the tool.
